The Creative School celebrates five years of innovative transdisciplinary offerings in the heart of Tuscany, Italy. Since establishing the Cortona campus in 2019, over 300 students have enrolled in this unique immersive summer program. Through art, design, and media, students have the distinct opportunity to engage with Tuscany’s cultural heritage while collaborating with local Italian industry partners and community members. Performance prof receives grant to launch study of Black history in Ontario’s archives |
|
|
Professor Cheryl Thompson was awarded a SSHRC Insight Grant of more than $260,000 for her project “Assessing the Social Capital of Ontario's Archives and the Possibilities for 'Third Places.’” Using a community-based approach, the project challenges the perception of archives as static or neutral spaces, instead highlighting their potential to foster deeper engagement with Black collections, improve access to Black history, and transform them into vibrant community hubs. This groundbreaking work reimagines archives as spaces of inclusion and connection, bridging historical gaps and amplifying Black voices. Visit Mapping Ontario’s Black Archives to learn more.

Graphic Communications Management students bring 3D designs to life for Little Canada’s latest exhibit |

|
Students enrolled in GCM 750 3D Printing class had the unique opportunity to design a variety of "real-life" objects that were then 3D printed, finished and featured in Little Canada's newest destination: Little West Coast. Students' designs were printed using advanced stereolithography (SLA) 3D printers, which use liquid resin and UV lights to create highly detailed small-scale models that showcase the richness and diversity of the country’s cities and landscapes.

Journalism student publishes in The Narwhal |

Gabby McMann has made her mark as a rising voice in journalism with two bylines published in The Narwhal. Her articles, which explore Indigenous regalia and powwow culture, as well as Bill C-38 and land rights, showcase her dedication to uplifting Indigenous narratives. In addition to her work as a writer, McMann serves as a research assistant at Saagajiwe, The Creative School’s hub for Indigenous research and creation, as well as a digital reporter and editor for Reconciling Journalism at The Creative School.

Streets of Toronto
A new satirical TV series created by Toronto video journalist Taylor Patterson focuses on problematic tabloid journalists. It features an all-Black cast and is edited by veteran writer Brandon Hackett. Drawing from his experiences at the RTA School of Media and Toronto's comedy scene, Patterson aims to challenge digital media's exploitation with humour and insight.
